El tema general que se propone para esta XXV edición de Las Claves del Románico tiene que ver con los espacios que conformaban el monasterio románico y las actividades que en ellos se realizaban, desde las propiamente litúrgicas a las tareas más cotidianas. Este argumento se trenza en torno a la idea directriz de que todo cenobio obedece a un planteamiento constructivo, funcional y jerarquizado, que une lo puramente material con lo estrictamente espiritual. De esta forma, se analizarán aspectos que van desde los más básicos para la subsistencia de la comunidad monástica, como la captación de recursos hídricos, las estancias relacionadas con la alimentación o el cuidado de las enfermedades, hasta cuestiones de carácter más espiritual, como pueden ser el complejo ritual que tenía lugar en sus dependencias o el uso de estas como última morada para monjes y laicos. En suma, se tratará de explorar la vida dentro del recinto monástico a través de los edificios que lo forman y de los componentes humanos que los usan.
Como en ediciones anteriores, para facilitar la participación de un mayor número de alumnos se han programado dos convocatorias con idénticos contenidos, dirigidas ambas a un público muy amplio, desde investigadores y estudiantes universitarios hasta aficionados al arte románico en general.

La edición de abril se desarrollará en la sede central de la Fundación Santa María la Real (Avda. Ronda, 1-3, junto al puente mayor) y la de julio en el refectorio del monasterio de Santa María la Real.
