Nuestro viaje no olvidará sin embargo a estas ciudades con un enorme patrimonio artístico y cultural u otras ciudades como Lucca, sede de algunos de los mejores ejemplos del románico italiano, pero visitaremos los pueblos que se asoman entre las suaves colinas que se suceden entre dos valles vitivinícolas: Orzia y Chianti, porque junto a su legado histórico, estos enclaves representan lo mejor de la gastronomía y el estilo de vida mediterráneos. Cuna de la lengua italiana y del Renacimiento, patria de Miguel Ángel, Leonardo o Galileo, en Toscana podremos hacer un recorrido por su agraciado pasado, desde la herencia etrusca y romana de Volterra a pueblos medievales como San Gimigniano. No olvidaremos tampoco los ejemplos renacentistas más conocidos, pero también disfrutaremos de Pienza, la ciudad renacentista ideal creada por el papa Pio II, uno de sus hijos más ilustres.
Tratada con amabilidad por la literatura y la fotografía su ondulado terreno, sembrado de cipreses, es protagonista habitual de las mejores postales. También el cine se ha recreado en sus espectaculares escenarios, y localidades como Montepulciano han sabido mezclar la noble sangre de sus vinos con los vampiros de última generación de “Crepúsculo”, película de culto entre los más jóvenes.
El otoño es uno de los mejores momentos para disfrutar de su paisaje y durante nuestro viaje no será raro tropezar con acontecimientos o celebraciones en torno al vino.
