Presentamos la colección de cuatro capiteles del románico palentino, elaborada por el taller artesanal Ornamentos Arquitectonicos.

Los cuatro canecillos que forman la colección son:

1 - Capitel del Cristo Triunfante del Monasterio de Santa María la Real de Aguilar de Campoo (Palencia)

En origen estaba ubicado en el arco triunfal de la iglesia del monasterio de Santa María la Real de Aguilar de Campoo. A finales del siglo XIX fue trasladado al Museo Arqueológico Nacional de Madrid, donde se expone en la actualidad.

Presenta la escena del Cristo Triunfante, en la que Jesús se muestra vencedor sobre la muerta, estando flanqueado por angelillos que portan las herramientas de la Pasión como la cruz, la lanza, los clavos o la esponja. Formaba parte de un ciclo escultórico que relata la Muerte y Resurreción del Señor.

Escultóricamente es una de las grandes piezas castellanas de la segunda mitad del siglo XII, relacionada con un Maestro que también trabajó en la fachada de la iglesia de Santiago de Carrión de los Condes (Palencia).

2 - Capitel de grifos afrontados del Monasterio de Santa María la Real de Aguilar de Campoo (Palencia)

Situado en el claustro del monasterio de Santa María la Real de Aguilar de Campoo. Presenta seis grifos afrontados por sus pechos en tres de sus ángulos, con las cabezas vueltas. Entre las figuras de los grifos  podemos ver tallos centrales rematados en un abierto cogollo que aparece en el centro de los lados largos y en los ángulos. 

Sobre él, se dispone un cimacio calado compuesto por una trama sinuosa con rosetas en el centro de círculos  de fina labor. Los grifos poseen barba de chivo, pico, garras y alas de ave perfectamente despiezadas, orejas picudas y cola de león que se entrelaza entre las patas traseras.

3 - Capitel de acantos helicoidales de la ermita de Santa Cecilia de Vallespinoso de Aguilar (Palencia)

La ermita de Santa Cecilia de Vallespinoso de Aguilar es uno de los ejemplos emblemáticos del románico rural del norte de Palencia. En este coqueto edificio se combinan varias de las características que proporcionan a estos rústicos templos una imagen tan evocadora. Destaca, en primer lugar, su atractiva ubicación coronando un descarnado peñasco desde donde vigila el valle en el que se asienta la población. Una vez en lo alto de la roca, a los pies de su monumental portada, sorprende la calidad escultórica que atesoran sus capiteles, canecillos y frisos; herencia de unos canteros locales que se formaron junto con los grandes maestros responsables de la ornamentación de los monasterios de Santa María la Real de Aguilar de Campoo San Andrés de Arroyo.

Uno de los mejores ejemplos de su labor se conserva en el capitel central de la doble arquería que decora el muro sur del presbiterio. La cesta, extraordinariamente fina y bien conservada, muestra dos hojas de acanto helicoidales que parten de un tallo único y que acogen, en el centro del molinillo central, sendas flores octopétalas. La composición, con el cuidado contrapeso de las hojitas anudadas, la calidad de la labra y el cuidado efecto de los calados trepanados, nos sitúa ante una de las realizaciones más refinadas de la escultura de fines del siglo XII.

4 - Capitel de la Matanza de los Inocentes de la ermita de Santa Cecilia de Aguilar de Campoo (Palencia)

La ermita se encuentra situada en la ladera sureste del cerro del castillo, y ocupa una posición preeminente desde la que se domina la totalidad del casco urbano de Aguilar de Campoo

Es un excepcional edificio de tres nave rematados en testeros planos y una imponente torre. Los orígenes del edificio se remonta al siglo XII, pero ha sido reformada en sucesivas ocasiones.

Destaca el excepcional capitel de la Matanza de los Inocentes. Presenta al rey Herodes rodeado por soldados, cubiertos por cota de malla, degollando a los inocentes, mientras sus madres lloran. Es una pieza sobresaliente del tardorrománico palentino, obra de los escultores que trabajaron en el claustro del monasterio de Santa María la Real.

In FSMLRPH we treat the following information and with the following purposes:  

CONTACT FORM: Management of requests received.

REGISTRATION FORM: Manage the creation of the account to facilitate purchases through the website.

PURCHASE AS A GUEST" FORM: Processing of the order placed and invoicing of the same.
