El afán del hombre por desplazarse de unos lugares a otros, por necesidad o por curiosidad, ha sido una constante a lo largo de la historia y en ese deambular por el mundo fueron muchas las fronteras que hubo de traspasar, unas de carácter físico y otras de carácter cultural. La más cercana fue la de su propia comunidad y el medio natural circundante, mientras que la más lejana fue aquella que le separaba de tierras remotas donde descubrió lugares y criaturas extrañas para él.
A pesar de que el conocimiento de estos viajes es cada vez mayor, aún no es suficiente para calibrar la verdadera dimensión de un fenómeno que fue común a todas las civilizaciones y en todas las épocas. Cuando se habla de viajar hay que tener en cuenta aspectos tan variados como la concepción del mundo en cada momento, los motivos del desplazamiento, los modos y medios de realizarlo, los destinos, las distancias, la duración, la narración y difusión del viaje, etc. En este universo de cosas caben viajes de todo tipo, de corto y largo recorrido, como las grandes migraciones, las expediciones militares, las peregrinaciones, las rutas comerciales, las embajadas diplomáticas, los exploradores e, incluso, los viajes imaginarios.
Para este curso se han seleccionado seis temas que tratarán de ofrecer una visión de los tipos de viajes que se realizaron en distintas épocas históricas. Comenzaremos con las conquistas de Alejandro Magno y los inmensos horizontes que se abrieron hacia Oriente, recorridos más tarde por otros viajeros y aventureros que quedaron fascinados por el esplendor de algunas culturas que allí se desarrollaron. Seguiremos con la audacia de las primeras mujeres que se atrevieron a emprender el complicado viaje a los Santos Lugares durante los primeros siglos del cristianismo y culminaremos en plena Edad Media con la peregrinación jacobea y las embajadas diplomáticas. El punto final lo pondremos con lo que podríamos denominar un viaje “virtual” a través de los mapas elaborados durante la Edad Media y los comienzos de la Edad Moderna, momento este en el que los periplos transatlánticos empezaron a mostrar un nuevo mundo que recorrer.
El curso va dirigido a todo tipo de público, desde estudiantes universitarios a entusiastas de la historia en general.
El curso se desarrollará íntegramente en formado online.
*Las conferencias programadas cada día serán grabadas con antelación y se colgarán en un canal privado a las 11.00 h. de cada jornada. En ese momento se facilitará a las personas matriculadas un enlace para poder visionarlas cuando lo deseen. Los videos y sus enlaces estarán activos hasta el 21 de mayo.
*Los coloquios con los ponentes de cada jornada se realizarán en tiempo real, a las 18.00 h. y se facilitará un enlace para que puedan conectarse aquellas personas que lo deseen. Estos coloquios también se grabarán y estarán a disposición de los alumnos hasta el 21 de mayo.
