En los últimos años han surgido en la Historia del Arte nuevas corrientes metodológicas que tratan de analizar el edificio románico desde perspectivas que van más allá de lo puramente artístico. Estas investigaciones han centrado su interés en la funcionalidad de la arquitectura, del mobiliario y de la decoración, contribuyendo así a un mejor conocimiento de los usos que se daban en cada ámbito espacial. Si la iglesia románica era ante todo un lugar donde se desarrollaba una liturgia determinada, fueron precisamente las prácticas o ritos asociados a esta los que condicionaron en gran medida su morfología y decoración.
Dentro y fuera del edificio religioso tenía lugar un rico y variado ceremonial que iba desde la celebración de la misa hasta las procesiones que recorrían las calles de la ciudad. Aquí se aplicaban los sacramentos, se celebraban las festividades instituidas por la Iglesia, se rendía homenaje a los difuntos, se daba culto a las reliquias y se realizaban ritos propiciatorios que buscaban el auxilio espiritual de la divinidad o de los santos. Estas ceremonias, donde se unían lo visible y lo invisible, se llevaban a cabo en espacios concretos y con una puesta en escena perfectamente codificada. La interacción entre hombres, imágenes y dispositivos conformaron un ritual performativo y sensorial al que no eran ajenas ninguna de las iglesias románicas que han llegado hasta nuestros días.
En este curso, y a través de las conferencias de seis destacados especialistas, se analizará esta relación entre el edificio románico y la liturgia asociada a él. La ceremonia de consagración, la música litúrgica, el culto a las reliquias y los rituales populares en torno a los sepulcros santos serán algunos de los aspectos a tratar. No olvidaremos tampoco aquellas otras prácticas litúrgicas que partiendo de la iglesia desbordaban su marco espacial para extenderse por la ciudad, al tiempo que sacralizaban también el espacio cívico. El curso va dirigido a todo tipo de público, desde estudiantes universitarios a entusiastas del arte románico en general.
El curso se desarrollará íntegramente en formado online.
*Las conferencias programadas cada día serán grabadas con antelación y se colgarán en un canal privado a las 11.00 h. de cada jornada. En ese momento se facilitará a las personas matriculadas un enlace para poder visionarlas cuando lo deseen. Los videos y sus enlaces estarán activos hasta el 19 de marzo.
*Los coloquios con los ponentes de cada jornada se realizarán en tiempo real, a las 18.00 h. y se facilitará un enlace para que puedan conectarse aquellas personas que lo deseen. Estos coloquios también se grabarán y estarán a disposición de los alumnos hasta el 19 de marzo.
